Almost venice (2019)

A documentary by directors duo Alberto Gottardo and Francesca Sironi about mass tourism, travelers, and the places they live in. The reportage follows three stories. It dives into the biggest hostel of Venice, recently opened on the mainland: 300 rooms for 1000 travelers a day. It goes on the Braies lake in the Dolomites, iconized on Instagram and Tv, and thus turned into a must-see. And finally travels with a tour operator that runs daily journeys from Milan to the sea at Rosignano Solvay (the fake Italian Carribeans baked in soda) at a very low price. These three stories become doors to explore and reverse the common conversation on the impact of tourism. To bring them, the “mass tourists”, to the fore, while they speak about personal memories and wishes. Their voices are intertwined with a formal visual observation of the infrastructures they use.
